Experience
My teaching and tutoring experience is extensive! I have 2.5 years of experience as a 8th, 9th, and 10th grade History and English teacher in Oakland at Oakland International High School and Aspire Golden State College Preparatory Academy. I have an MA in the Teaching of Social Science from Stanford University. I student taught 6th grade and 11th grade US History. I've worked extensively with English Language Learners and students with special needs. I hold a California clear teaching credential in Social Science and English, with certification in ELL. Writing instruction is also a strength of mine: I spent a summer teaching writing composition to high school students at the Humanities Education and Leadership Program at Stanford University in 2012. Prior to earning my MA, I tutored high school students in literacy, full-time, at City on a Hill Charter Public School in Boston, MA. My subject matter expertise is in writing, US and World History, and English Literature. I love working with students to develop their skills and knowledge! I approach my work with warmth and an eye towards developing intrinsic skills that will help my tutees far beyond the time they spend with me.

I'm a slam poet, swing dancer, avid Bay Area hiker, Shakespeare buff, and fiction writer. I'm currently working on a Young Adult novel that is partially set during the Blitz on London during World War II!
